Casanovas Recruitment Solutions have a long-term temporary booking working as a HR Business Partner within the public sector for a large organisation based near Kelvedon, Essex.
The role:
As a HR Business Partner you will assist the company and local community by providing high quality HR advice, guidance and support to managers through the development, maintenance and consistent implementation and application of HR policies and procedures.  As a HR Business Partner you will directly support the Employment Policy and Practice section to develop policy and practice, including the design and delivery of guidance and tools for managers.

Day to day in the role:

HR Business Partnering

  • Manage employment related cases and projects and work with managers to support HR related casework and projects. Ensure advice is in line with policy, legislation and relevant case law and ensure timely and effective completion and resolution of people related issues.
  • Work effectively with HR colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to the application of HR policies and processes across the organisation.  Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of employment law and HR industry development to support continuous improvement within the team and across the Service.
  • Provide advice to managers and colleagues on pay, conditions of service matters, employee relations issues and policies taking into account current employment and case law and best practice.
  • Support and ensure implementation of the policies, skills and support needed by managers to make decisions and take action in line with employment law, HR regulations and good practice. Support performance management against a framework of competencies that inform required behaviors of all staff.
  • Ensure that case management records are kept in line with data protection and other requirements to allow the Service to report accurately on cases and utilise information gathered to support and inform continuous improvement of the Service.
  • Contribute to managing and sustaining effective and constructive relations with employees and employee representative groups to support organisational change and effective resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Support the Service in preparing for Employment Tribunals and sharing learning through the Tribunal process.


Employment Policy and Practice

  • Develop, update and implement allocated HR policy ensuring the organisation is legislatively compliant and that updates and implementation are carried out to required standards and timescales. 
  • Work across the function to identify people trends/issues, make proposals for change and implement agreed improvement action plans.   
  • Responsible for the effective management and timely resolution of people management issues which may include acting as an investigating officer or hearing manager.  Completing Manager Self Service (MSS) processes where appropriate. 
  • Manage and support the allocated HR work streams of projects and ensure all projects and initiatives take people and organisational issues into account.


Leadership and Service Delivery

  • Manage and develop self and others to improve personal and team performance and deliver objectives. 
  • Take a proactive role in the development of HR Service delivery to ensure that the Service has the capacity and capability to deliver its vision, mission and priorities.
  • Support and champion the implementation of what good leadership and management means in the organisation to inform the development of leaders and managers.


Required skills and Qualifications

  • MCIPD or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of employment law and experience of HR case work and policy development.
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting and delivering organisational change such as restructures, redundancy, TUPE transfers and changes to terms and conditions
  • Experience of managing complex HR casework up to and including Employment Tribunals.
  • Experience of creating policies and toolkits, interpreting current employment legislation to produce a framework that underpins procedures.
  • Experience of managing changing priorities and situations. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including the ability to produce and share complex information.
  • Excellent level of interpersonal including negotiation and influencing skills, able to communicate professionally and tactfully to build constructive relationships.
  • Candidates may be required to travel around the county on occasion and will need to offer some flexibility.
