Casanovas Recruitment Solutions are very excited to be representing a fantastic client that is looking for a full time Assistant Accountant based in Earls Colne with the option of hybrid working.

As Assistant Accountant, you will support the Finance Manager with month end procedures and reconciliations together with providing analysis of financial information.

The Assistant Accountant role would suit a person who is eager to advance in their accountancy career whilst having the opportunity to study for a recognised accountancy qualification.

Main duties and Responsibilities for the Assistant Accountant:

  1. Assisting the Finance Manager with preparation of the monthly management accounts for 3 companies within the Group.

  2. Pro-actively managing the AR process/accounts and reducing outstanding debt

  3. Assist with prepayments/accruals/journals.

  4. Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.

  5. Review and maintain intercompany balances working closely with Senior Accountants across the group.

  6. Maintain the petty cash and online expenses system.

  7. Provide variance analysis on Monthly P&L providing commentary on key variances.

  8. Maintaining key financial documents in Excel.

  9. Assist in producing key weekly financials with explanations to non-finance managers.

  10. Developing insightful financial analysis and present to key stakeholders within the organisation.

  11. Any other task as determined from time to time by the Finance Manager.

Assistant Accountant Skills and Experience:

Specialist/Technical

  • AAT qualified or currently studying (full study support provided) - Desirable.
  • 1-year minimum working within an office environment - Desirable.

Administrative/Organisational

  • Intermediate Excel skills including VLookups, Sumifs, Pivot Tables - desirable
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and able to use own initiative.

Communication

  • Ability to build good working relationships with managers across the business sectors.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Ability to remain customer focussed and have business awareness in order to assist non-financial managers in providing an efficient service in a multi cost centre environment

General

  • Empathy with the aims and objectives of a modern specialist care organisation
